Fall in Paris: Vihdoin sitä päätöntä kiertelyä

Viime viikolla sattui ensialkuun ärsyttävä tapaus, mutta minuutin mietittyäni, olin oikein mielissäni. Maanantaina aamulla koulussa odottelimme opettajaa, kun eräs oppilas katsoi sähköpostistaan tuntien olevan peruttuna. No niin, ei sitten pidetä presentaatiota tänään. Heräsin siis turhaan aikaisin.

Sitten tajusin, että nythän on se täydellinen tilaisuus lähteä kiertelemään kaupunkia. Kun on tosiaan vielä aikaista ja on jo valmiiksi keskustassa. Ei kun metroon ja kohti Le Maraista. Luin alueen olevan kaunista ja siellä oli pari nähtävyyttä. Mikäs siinä, kaikessa rauhassa käveleskellä ympäriinsä.

Toteutin myös toisen suunnitelmani, eli katsoin kun bussi saapui pysäkille ja hyppäsin kyytiin. Menin muutaman välin ja hyppäsin pois. Ja kiertelin. Ihanan rentouttavaa ja piristävää. =)

So last week there was this annoying and nice happening. On Monday morning we were on class waiting for the teacher, when one student checked her e-mail and noticed that the class was cancelled. So okay, no presentation today. I woke up early for nothing.

Then I realized that this is the perfect opportunity to stroll around the city. It was early and I was already at downtown. I took a metro to Le Marais. I read the area should be beautiful and there was couple of sights also. I was so nice just to walk in peace.

I also did this other thing I had been thinking about. So when the bus stopped, I just hopped on and hopped off when I felt like it. And walked again. So relaxing and cheery.

Ensin vastaan tuli tämä kaunis kirkko. En tiedä onko se tuo äidin synnyinseudulla vallinnut körttiläisyys vai mikä, mutta nuo punaiset ovet kirkossa hämmentää aina.

First I saw this nice church. Somehow the red doors at a church always seem odd.

Place des Vosges on Pariisin vanhin aukio ja ympäröivät talot ovat 400 vuotta vanhoja. Täällä oli mukava käveleskellä.

Place des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris and the buildings surrounding it are over 400 years old. Nice place to walk.

Place de la Bastille

Luonnonhistoriallisen museon puutarhassa alkoi harmittamaan se, etten ollut aiemmin tajunnut täällä käydä. Silloin, kun kukat olisivat vielä olleet täydessä kukassa.

Torstaina oli toinen mahdollisuus tälläiselle retkelle. Tuntien välissä viisi tuntia vapaata. Tähän asti olen mennyt tällä välillä tekemään jotain kotiin, mutta nyt suuntasin La Defenceen. Se on Pariisin laidalla oleva business kaupunginosa. Alueen tuntomerkki on Riemukaarta muistuttava Grande Arche. Halusin mennä käymään tämän huipulla, josta kuulemma on hienot näkymät. Mutta kysyttyäni tietä ylös, sain kuulla, ettei sinne ole päässyt enää muutamaan vuoteen.. Oho.

At Thursday I had another chance for this kind of trip. I had five hours of spare time between classes. Normally I've gone home but now I headed to La Defence. It's a business district at the edge of Paris. There is also Grand Arche, an arch that resembles Arc de Triomphe. I wanted to visit the top, but after asking the way there I was told the top has been closed for several years now.. Whops.
